Main Post:
My mom doesn't really listen to rap, but I put on Bad Bad Bad and she was really giving with it. Does he have other songs with the same type of vibe/flow?

Reddit Is A Terrible Place Now.
Main Post:
I deleted my main account that was over 5 years old and didn't look back, ended up making this one like a fool to make a few comments. I instantly regret it and wanted to make a "final post" here so I can air out my feelings regarding this site, I have used reddit regularly for 7 or so years and it wasn't until the last couple of years I've realized just how toxic this place is.
I have noticed that this site has become so much more hateful and judgemental no matter what sub your in, it can be a big popular sub or it can be a hobbyist sub it doesn't matter. There is always somebody leaving hateful judgemental remarks with a "know it all" kind of attitude, i catch myself responding too often to these comments and just reading them ruins my day.
I have spent countless hours at night doom scrolling comments and wasting my time, realizing I'm worrying about what people say and think on here for nothing. I don't believe I've truly learned anything valuable on this site and the overall toxicity that tons of redditors display were the nail in the coffin for me, I wanted to make this post to have some support and maybe not feel like I'm the only one in this.
As far as other social media's (which I also hate) I only have FB mainly for the messenger app to keep in touch with certain family members and friends, no Twitter/X anymore and have never dared to step towards tiktok. I also find Instagram to be just as bad so I'm deleting that as well, I will be keeping this post up to read and reply to comments before the final deletion.
Edit: Thank you to all of the supportive comments in agreement, you have all helped me escape from this toxic chamber of hatred and school yard bullying back into reality. Even after this account is dead and gone I want this to be an inspiration to those feeling the same way who are struggling to remove themselves from this site you will feel so much better ❤ all of the hateful judgement and hate you constantly feel will soon be removed from your head and making your own decisions for yourself will be free and liberating. Please keep being yourself, listen to what you love, watch what you enjoy and wear what you want to wear because that is what makes this world special! Peace out reddit 🤞
Top Comment: All of this is such a drain on time. That’s my issue with it. I don’t have any other social media anymore, it’s just pointless, I kept Reddit because I have found it useful, but I can see how my lack of anything else draws me more into it. I think if I could bin Reddit and have nothing, I’d be better off. However, something weird goes on, I’ve found myself going to the App Store to reload Instagram only to realise as I’m doing it, it’s like it was happening without my input, just on autopilot. I’m going to make the effort to get off Reddit, not because of the way people interact here, but because it’s a waste of my time.
What is it with Reddit having such a bad reputation?
Main Post:
I've seen a ton of criticism of Reddit calling it terrible and even saying that it's users are nothing more than chronically online keyboard warriors (saying it as nicely as I can because if I said more this post would be removed). I don't understand why it's reputation is so bad compared to other platforms, as the reasons for reddit being terrible are true for other platforms. I don't get it and I'm truly confused by the hatred of Reddit. It's been a good experience for me although I'm only active in a few subs.

Reddit Is Terrible for You
Main Post:
Reddit is one of the worst form of social media. Let me explain why.
Firstly, when browsing Reddit, you take in absurd amount of written data in form of opinions. This in itself causes information overload, which makes you more anxious and stressed. Secondly, the worst side effect in my view, is that information is not processed, you just take it in passively, like watching a TV; this alters your worldview, even subconsciously, and if there are hints of negativity(dating is impossible nowadays, I will be forever alone, The economy is bad, The world is getting worse etc...), they will be amplified by supporting evidence, which you will seek thanks to confirmation bias. You will start to see world in weird ways, that doesn't not represent how the world works for your.
Also, it is easy to trick yourself into thinking the information is something worth taking it: "I learn new stuff", "It is sophisticated converstion"- unlike, let's say, compared to TikTok. However, the information is not processed, and will just fade away, just like your plain ol' TikToks, only leaving you with a feeling that you spent your time in more efficient way than TikTok, but without anything concrete, than hours dissapeared from your precious day.
The upvote system is something that seems quite nice: quick way to read the most accurate information!
Well, actually upvoting and reading just the top posts just promotes conformism. The top rated posts create feeling that they are the right opinion and view, whilst actually they are just the most popular ones. Treating the most popular view as the most truthful view is the definition of conformism, and the conformism is the definition of not thinking for yourself, and not thinking for yourself is a sure way to live a life that is not aligned with how you truly want to live. Is that something you want for YOUR life? For me, the answer is clear-cut no.
I do realize, that there are healthy ways to use Reddit - as there are healthy ways to use any form of social media. Healthy use of social media is seldom and I think Reddit is no difference. Mindless scrolling and reading the text here quickly, will be detrimental for your character and metal health, while posting your own thoughtful posts and responses can very well be a great way to spend time.
And yes, this is written as motivation for me to stop using Reddit, as I've come to see how it harms my mental health, by altering my view of the real world. And I don't think I am the only one suffering from this. Thank you.
Top Comment: I miss when people cited sources in this sub instead of just asserting unsupported opinions as fact.
Reddit is the worst online platform I've been in. I'm out.
Main Post:
Yeah as the title says. And before someone comments: "Just delete it bruh, no need to announce your departure", I don't care. I feel much better if I post my vent before leaving. So if that bothers you, keep scrolling.
I never thought that Reddit would be the platform that contributed my mental health to get worse, but I'm wrong. I thought that maybe its just some subreddits that are bad, but no, its all of them.
Post something nice, or share your thoughts, and you get redditors with brainrot making fun of you or belittle you. It always triggers me seeing that kind of negativity. Even the most wholesome subreddit is not free from this toxicity, and their mods just let those negative comments up.
My anxiety also tends to get worse the more I frequent Reddit.
Maybe I'm just overreacting because I'm in a very bad mental state at the moment. I'm definitely going to delete all of my social media, worst of all being Reddit. Deleting them won't solve all of my problems, but it will be a big help. I'm hoping things will get better from here.
I'll check for any responses I get for a bit before deleting. Thanks for reading my mess of a small rant and I wish everyone here the best of luck.
Top Comment: I’m right on the edge of saying goodbye too. I’ve been using Reddit regularly for well over a decade but it’s changed a lot. People are so quick to be negative and toxic, and I get the feeling more and more that a lot of people here are the “perpetually online” folks I wouldn’t actually relate with in real life. Maybe this is my moment to leave as well. I think I’ll uninstall it off my phone and see. Thanks for the encouragement.
Reddit is just as bad as other social media and I fiiiinally realized it
Main Post:
Reddit is going into the garbage after this post along with Facebook and Twitter. I held on to Reddit convincing myself it wasn’t affecting my mental health but it is. I can’t help myself from looking at news that I know will make me upset and it turns me into a terrible person.
The eye opener was when I got banned by an automated bot and I could not for the life of me even remember what I said. I was more mad that a bot banned me. I was even going to make a post complaining about it. That’s scary and it’s not who I want to be as a person.
When I started Reddit was just rage comics and people talking like cringy teenagers but it’s turned into something unrecognizable now. It’s just a pit of despair that you control which is almost scarier than an algorithm feeding you things. Hope this motivates someone else to uninstall this shit.
Top Comment: so real. it's easy to feel like reddit isn't as bad because "it's not social media" in the sense that you're not sharing photos of your life or mundane everyday updates. but that's actually what makes it worse imo. the best parts of social media are real human connection with loved ones or friends in real life, and the worst parts are recommended content and comment sections full of strangers posting the most attention-grabbing version of themselves. reddit is JUST that. it's all the crappy explore page internet hole and zero real life.
Honestly, Reddit isn't all bad
Main Post:
People love to dunk on this site, and for pretty understandable reasons most of the time.... but Reddit can be good.
I tend to find that the best communities tend to be the ones with a hyper-specific focus. To avoid naming a specific community (against this sub's rules) I'll make some examples up, but... "Plutonian Animation" might be a dubious sub, but "Detective Gundark," which happens to be a specific cartoon from the planet Pluto, is likely gonna be fun... in spite or perhaps because its under-populated.
It's really only the political subs that the worst of Reddit comes out, IMO. Or the subs that have insane restrictions on what you can post (my least favorites being tech support type subs where they say "if your question sounds anything like X then it has to go in a megatopic where nobody will ever see your post" since that just means the sub is useless).
But if you just wanna hang with nerds, Reddit is fine.
Top Comment: Reddit is only good for 2 things: Technical advice for niche problems/issues/questions Specific communites centered around a common hobby or interest. That’s it. Everything else is complete dogshit.
Reddit is toxic
Main Post:
Cliché, I know but Reddit is probably the most toxic of all social media.
Just reading puts you in a bad mood, everyone is abrasive, negative, and plain stupid AF.
I am done. I am deleting my 2 accounts, and never coming back.
If you want to relly decide to be better you'd do the same.
Top Comment: You're not the first person to point this out and it made me realize that I wasn't having that experience. A little bit of digging and I couldn't help but notice a trend in most people with negative experiences on Reddit; the subs they frequented and interacted with the most were magnets for negativity. You find what you look for. It's a universal rule. I'm sorry you had shit experiences here and I hope that your decision pans out in the most positive way for you.
Reddit is the most hostile and delusional forum site on the internet
Main Post:
I'll go through major points on why Reddit is the worst site to communicate, engage and discuss anything:
- Hostility to any post - every post will inherently get downvoted therefore decreasing the value of subreddit, by the extension entire site
- Users will force their disagreement upon everyone - agreeing with a stranger on reddit is not tolerable, if you agree with someone, it means you 'lost the argument' and you lose your prestige
- Fake news and propagating lies - users will hide, change or straight up invent narratives for any reason they find convenient, tainting legitamicy of the so called 'front page of the internet'
- Pseudoscience reigns - indulging in scientific discussions will lead to factual fallacies and abhorrent individual behaviour doing disservice to humankind
- Emotional and psychological support subreddits are doing more harm than good - people will open their hearts and emotions to strangers on reddit leaving it exposed for most disgusting users to exploit them for their personal amusement
- Fandom subreddits operate with dogmatic and hivemind/occult mentality - expressing love/hate on specific topics in entertainment industry such as games, movies, anime, books etc. will result in ridicule of a member and repulsion to the communty by the member
- Promoting toxic and dangerous ideologies - promoting despicable acts and thoughts targeted towards individuals/groups with bigoted and zealous intent wherever/whenever an opportunity arises
- Rejecting personal opinions and free speech - getting censored or banned from expressing your personal concerns/thoughts/opinions on certain matters
- Moderator power mongering - Misuse of moderator tools and responsibilities to gain personal satsfaction or to promote propaganda
- Propaganda itself - was it political, religious, scientific, ethic or something else, if you are not in the line with the status quo, you will get suspended, censored, harassed, dehumanized and left concerned for the state of this site as a whole, only if you care enough
I used reddit for the past 15 years or so and seeing deteriorate to the state it is in right now doesn't concern me much, but I'm concerned for its oblivious users who will use it carefree not knowing the dangers it poses. And that's all without mentioning outrageous monetization of the site, sharing groosome footage and sexual materials, exploiting vulnerable groups like children, minorities, people with disabilities, races etc.
My younger sibling started using reddit few months ago and I was very against it, and she shared some personal emotional baggage on one of the advice subreddits and she was met with hostility and harassment from fellow 'advice givers'. So I decided to write this list to give this site a spotlight and treatment it deserves.
edit: Another thing crossed my mind. Reddit is repurposed site. Site that used to host and maintain actual criminal activities that were considered as rights of free speech are now remade and rebranded for new users as 'family friendly' true to source frontpage of the internet. Mainstream media frequently uses it for promotion, information and advertisements. In my country, reddit is pretty much another 'news outlet'.
Imagine if one day we rebrand 4chan to be family friendly site to use it as true to source news outlet. New people will come to this new version of the site, but old veteran users won't go away. You get a basket full of degenerates and 'younger' oblivious users. That's the reddit we have today. You can have emotional support or ask real scientists subreddits and new users will full heartedly believe everything written there, because they don't know better.
Top Comment: I'll tell you what's wrong with reddit. Censorshit. Free speech and discussion aren't allowed to exist on reddit, which only makes the censoring side look wrong. Every time. Without free discussion we can't learn and progress It used to be not allowed to speak about abolishing slavery or giving women equal rights...then it was, and equality prevailed over the old ways Can't progress without free speech
Has anyone noticed that reddit is a bit 'dead' nowadays?
Main Post:
Especially compared to 2016-2019. There would often be posts with 50 thousand upvotes on all of the main subs. Now it seems like posts only get a few thousand at max.
Even sorting by new on main subs would only render one post a few hours. Has everything there is to be posted already been done in one form or the other?
Top Comment: I remember there being a massive "Reddit explosion" from late 2018 all the way to 2020/21. The reddit userbase size seemed to increase by a magnitude plus the demographics shifted a fair bit younger. A big cause of it I think was those reddit story videos that popped off on Youtube at the time. Other factors included Pewdiepie basically advertising subreddits to his viewers and the rise of Wallstreetbets in early 2021. Weirdly, no one talked about it, or even noticed. This massive growth has appeared to slowed down a lot since 2021.
